I will be in Nalerigu, Ghana from May 24th to July 7th. After much prayer, I really did feel as though this trip was exactly where the Lord had me this summer. As many of you know, I have often talked and dreamed about pursuing an overseas career after I graduate from medical school. Yet, I often try to temper my own eagerness because I know I still have so much to learn and understand about cross cultural medicine and missions. I am excited to spend the summer at the Baptist Medical Center and sit under the leadership of the career missionary doctors there.

I really do believe that the BMC is a special place. The BMC has had a presence in Nalerigu for over fifty years and has developed into a full size hospital with two operating rooms. Because of its location and availability, over four hundred patients may visit the hospital each day. The Baptist Medical Center ministries also include a nutritional rehabilitation center, a TB treatment village, and church planting. This summer I hope to grow in my understanding of medicine and its practice and in my view of medical missions. More than anything, I hope to grow in knowledge and love for my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Please be praying for me as I seek out God’s voice about His current and future will for my life. There’s a lot of daily distractions of things I may “want,” but more than anything I want to hear God’s voice and I want my eyes to be set in the right place. I want to be actively discerning a possible career calling, with the intentionality of pursuing kingdom work in my every day life. Since all of you know me, you know that I fail more often than not. Please encourage me, ask me about, and hold me accountable to pursuing God, not just an “idea” of missions.
